Daventry Basketball Club prepares for Clubmark

For the past twelve months Daventry Basketball Club has been working towards Clubmark accreditation.

The Clubmark initiative has been introduced by Sport England, so that parents and young athletes can feel safe and secure with the choice of clubs in which they interact.

By achieving Clubmark status, Daventry Basketball Club will prove that they are complying in four main areas:

• The playing programme
• Duty of care and safeguarding and protecting children and young people
• Sports equity and ethics
• Club management

Part of this progression includes forming a Committee Board with roles to help the Club grow.  An AGM is being set for August, 2009 (exact date and time yet to be confirmed). If you think you would be able to contribute, please contact the club by the following means:

Daventry District Youth Games Basketball Squad 2008

Paul Pritchard (Daventry District Council) joins Rob Eddon, Nick Kitchen (Squad Coaches) and Daventry Basketball Squad

Congratulations go to all of the players who were involved in the 2008 Youth Games, which took place in Kettering.

The team showed great cohesion, while performing against Wellingborough, East Northants, Northampton and South Northants.

Many of the players have now been included in the Daventry Junior Basketball Squad after showing good potential.

Well done to all those concerned!!
